Bringing the reality of 3D to your 2D world.

The 3rd Dimension NZ Limited

Laser Scanning / Reverse Engineering

· Fast and accurate.

· Convert legacy parts into 3D data.

· Allows the ability of mass producing existing parts or prototypes.

· Turns existing parts in 3D CAD surface or solid geometry that’s good enough to send directly to a prototyping machine or to CNC machine with.

With our 3D laser scanning equipment we can accurately scan your existing part and use that information to generate 3D CAD data. Once we have this CAD data there are numerous uses that will be of aid to your company including handling legacy data, mass production, tool repairs and part reproduction.

Legacy Data

With more and more companies converting over to the power of 3D CAD systems, converting legacy parts and drawings into 3D has become an important requirement. Until now you have not had a choice on how to convert this legacy data. You had to spend days of effort on each part but with the laser scanning equipment we can have a more accurate CAD model in hours.

Mass Production

If you only have one part and need to turn that part into hundreds or thousands then laser scanning is the best approach for you. Once your part has been scanned and the CAD data generated, that CAD data can be used for CNC machining and tool making. Or maybe you need to design your part around an existing part or assembly but don’t have the CAD data available.

Tool Repair / Modifications

A quick laser scan of your tool cavities will give you the information, in the form of CAD data, you need to generate new tool paths for a CNC machine to allow you to machine a replacement cavity or repair the existing cavity. Just think, no more trying to find old drawings and hoping that they are still up to date.

Part Reproduction

Laser scanning allows you to make an exact copy of any part that you may have from simple parts to a complex curved part like a turbine blade.
